List of myLife UNISA Email Technical Issues
1. Most Frequently Encountered myLife UNISA Email Problem: Unable to Activate myLife Email Account
Apparently, many UNISA students complain about their inability to activate their myLife accounts. In fact, it is important to do so as UNISA will communicate with students only through their email accounts. Although the university will periodically send SMS and letters, they will not be the main channels of communication.
So, how can you activate your myLife UNISA email account?
First, you have to claim your myUnisa account. Go to the myUnisa website at https://my.unisa.ac.za/ and click on the button “Claim UNISA Login.” Next, carefully follow the steps instructed.
Most importantly, you must first activate your myUnisa account before you can use your myLife email. These steps are irreversible.
Also, note that it may take up to 24 hours for your myLife email account to be created. Once your account is ready, click on the myLife email button on the myUnisa homepage. Next, sign in with your myUnisa email address and password.
2. Unable to Access myLife Email Account
Several students have been known to complain of not being able to access their UNISA myLife email accounts recently. They mentioned that the problem only appeared recently, and that confused them. How did this happen?
Apparently, due to Microsoft’s latest update, UNISA students can no longer directly access their myLife UNISA email account when logged in to myUnisa. Luckily, this issue is easy to solve, and the university has officially announced how to tackle it step-by-step.
The following is a new procedure for accessing your myLife email account. Follow these steps to access your email account.
First, go to the official myLife UNISA webpage at http://mylife.unisa.ac.za/. Next, enter your full email address and password to your myLife email account. Finally, click on the “Sign In” button.
What should I do if my password is not active on both myLife and Office 365?
In such cases, it may be necessary to reset your myUnisa password to sync it with your myLife mailbox. First, go to the myUnisa webpage at https://my.unisa.ac.za/ and select “My Admin.” Next, click on the “Change Password” link. Finally, complete the form to update your password.
Note that this new password will be active on both your myUnisa and myLife services. However, during peak periods, you may need to wait up to 30 minutes to use your new password.
3. The Cliche but Frustrating myLife UNISA Email Trouble: Forgot Password
It is possible that you forget your password. There are many reasons to explain why. In fact, more than half of the country’s population says they have to execute at least five password resets every month on average.
So, what to do when you forget your email password?
As it turns out, it is pretty easy to reset your myLife UNISA email password. First, go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za/. Next, select “Can’t access your account” on the login screen for myLife. Third, click on “I forgot my password.”
Click on “Reset my password” and enter your Windows Live ID (e.g., email@example.com). Then, enter the characters you see to verify that you are not a robot. Lastly, click on “Next” and follow the remaining instructions.
While it is normal to forget your password, resetting it can be time-consuming. Thus, look for strong keywords that you will never forget. For example, use a memorable phrase or song. Alternatively, you can create a tip sheet.
4. Forgot myLife Email Address
This issue goes hand by hand with the previous one. It is not uncommon that UNISA students forget their myLife email addresses. This can snowball into a serious problem since all UNISA services are connected to myUnisa which can only be accessed using myLife email.
But did you know that your myLife email address actually consists of your student number? Therefore, more often than not, you may forget your student number rather than the address itself.
To solve this problem, you need to fill out a form to find your student number, which in turn helps you remember your myLife UNISA email address. Find your student number by visiting this link and filling in the form with your personal details, such as your full name and ID number or passport.
Upon clicking “Submit,” the system will explore the database to find your student number.
5. Bonus: Unable to Log into myUnisa to Look for Exam Results
Looking for exam results? Did you know that you can access your myLife email account without logging into myUnisa?
Apparently, many students are attempting to log into myUnisa for their exam results. Unfortunately, myUnisa is intermittently unavailable after login.
Your exam results will be sent to your myLife email account as soon as they become available. You can access your myLife email account without logging onto myUnisa. Go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za/ and login with your myUnisa or myLife password.
